Until February 28 of 2020, the Call from the Empleaverde 2020 Program for the connection of entrepreneurs (CONECTA) is open. This call is focused on projects to improve the skills of entrepreneurs residing in Spain through mutual learning with other actors in the European entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The Arde el Mediterráneo report by the environmental organization WWF analyses forest fires in Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Turkey and Portugal. According to this, in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Turkey more than 80% of the forest burns per year.
In 2017, 540,000 hectares of forest were burned in Portugal, 250% more than what is burned on average per year while in Spain about 180,000 hectares were burned, 70% more than what is usually burned in a year. But the fires did not only affect the territory, but also the human lives: in Portugal 119 people lost their lives and 4 in Spain. In fact, in the last two years Portugal, Spain and Greece have suffered serious super-fires causing the death of 225 people in total, hundreds of injured, thousands of evacuees and unqualifiable material and environmental damage.
Between 2009 and 2018, Spain suffered 12174 forest fires and Portugal 22693, which makes it necessary to implement forest- fire fighting models that reduce these amounts of fires and avoid the negative impact they cause on societies and their environment.

Capital de España, 7, 28042, Madrid, España), una mesa redonda cuyo título será “Cooperación y gobernanza para la innovación en la prevención, lucha contra incendios y restauración de espacios quemados”.

Historias Ibéricas de cohesión. 30 años de programas Interreg en Europa
El proyecto CILIFO estará presente en el Foro de Historias Ibéricas el próximo 23 de enero a las 12:00h en la sede central de la Agencia EFE en Madrid. Este evento estará organizado por las agencias EFE y LUSA, con el apoyo de la Dirección General de Política Regional (DGRegio) de la Comisión Europea, con el nombre de “Historias Ibéricas. 30 años del Programa de cooperación transfronteriza INTERREG España-Portugal (POCTEP)”. En el evento se abordarán los principales logros del programa y los nuevos retos que demanda el futuro de la zona.

Iberian stories of cohesion. 30 years of Interreg programs in Europe
The CILIFO project will be present at the Iberian Histories Forum on January the 23rd at 12: 00h at the headquarters of the EFE Agency in Madrid. This event will be organized by the agencies EFE and LUSA with the support of the Directorate-General for Regional Policy (DGRegio) of the European Commission, under the name “Iberian Stories. 30 years of the INTERREG Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Program (POCTEP) “. The event will address the main achievements of the program and the new challenges demanded by the future of the area.

European Conference of Regional and Local Governments and General State Administration for Rural and Territorial Repopulation
The CILIFO project was present last Friday 17th of January in Ávila to participate in an event on innovation and entrepreneurship for Rural and Territorial Repopulation with the participation of the Director General of the Finnova Foundation, Juan Manuel Revuelta which is one of the beneficiary entities of the project.
The objective of the day was to value the potential of rural tourism, European funds and the challenge of climate change and circular economy. In this sense, CILIFO has an important role, as a project of good practices since it seeks to mitigate and adapt climate change through the fight against forest fires. Here the reforestation is an important factor since if the rural areas are maintained there will be less chance of fires.
Furthermore, the importance of taking advantage of the heritage and cultural resources of rural areas to create employment and attract entrepreneurs that help combat depopulation and that allow a balanced and sustained territorial development over time was highlighted.
In addition, youth employment and the opportunities offered by programs oriented to youngsters of the European Social Fund were discussed. These allow training programs for the subsequent return of this talent and development with tools of the European Union.
For this event, the Gredos statement was created to support innovation and entrepreneurship to fight the depopulation of rural areas.
