Iberian Centre for Research and Forest Firefighting (CILIFO)

El Iberian Centre for Research and Forest Firefighting (CILIFO) is funded by 75% by the Interreg Cross-Border Cooperation Program Interreg VA Spain- Portugal – POCTEP (2014-2020). The project aims:

  • Strengthen and combine cooperation, work procedures and training between Forest Fire Prevention and Extinction devices in the area of cooperation of the Alentejo – Algarve – Andalusia Euroregion.
  • Promote the creation of durable and quality employment in the area; reduce the economic cost of fires by creating rural economy linked to the landscape.
  • To improve the response capacity to forest fires of the administrations and authorities involved in the fight against them in the three participating regions.
